Three-clawed hands
Each hand bore three functional fingers with curved claws.
Brow ornaments
Small bony projections above the eyes helped give its skull a distinctive profile.
Replaceable blades
Its curved, serrated teeth were replaced throughout life.
A rich bonebed
Utah's Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry preserves an unusually large number of Allosaurus individuals.
Evidence of difficult lives
Several skeletons preserve healed injuries, showing that individuals survived considerable physical damage.
A little room for discovery.
Bonebed concentrations do not by themselves establish pack hunting. Feeding mechanics and social behavior remain debated.
